Christos Theodorou, DEA

Christos Theodorou specialises in corporate and financial law, deregulation, and large-scale transactions and advises primarily on insurance, administrative and general commercial law. He has considerable experience in conducting due diligence on undertakings for the purposes of sale, mergers and acquisitions and IPOs / listing on the stock exchange and has substantial administrative law experience both in licensing and advisory work and in litigation before the Supreme Administrative Court of Greece. He has extensive knowledge of Greek regulatory authorities’ operation regarding licensing and transactional matters including mergers and acquisitions of, mainly, insurance companies but also in the field of pharmaceutical companies. Further, as an experienced lawyer in the handling of insurance claims, he has an excellent understanding of the way insurance companies work internally and their claims-handling practices and procedures. He further specializes in managerial employee agreements and benefits, trade union and data protection issues, as well as in employment-related M&A matters.

His recent indicative experience includes representing an insurance company in a conflict involving a civil liability insurance for a large international surveyors company in relation to the soundness of the valuation of a large hotel investment in Athens, which is disputed by the investor; representing a life insurance company in a series of lawsuits concerning the calculation of the pension benefit provided to its employees who exit for full or early retirement; representing insurer before the Supreme Court of Greece in a matter involving a series of legal issues arising out of maritime pollution incidents, et.al.

His recent indicative experience includes

• Prepared a legal analysis regarding the insured entity’s ability to lodge a claim against its insurers requesting insurance money for the restoration of the damage of a rotor of the steam turbine
• Representing an insurance company before the competent labour authorities, in the context of a complaint concerning redundancies that took place following a share purchase transaction of the company
• representing an insurance company in a conflict involving a civil liability insurance for a large international surveyors’ company in relation to the soundness of the valuation of a large hotel investment in Athens, which is disputed by the investor
• representing a life insurance company in a series of lawsuits concerning the calculation of the pension benefit provided to its employees who exit for full or early retirement
